OFAH memo for Town of Mono firearms discharge bylaw
Do you live, hunt, or shoot in Mono? The Municipality is currently reviewing its Firearms Bylaw with the goal of addressing concerns regarding “the discharge of firearms in close proximity to residential areas.” Among other things, the bylaw would restrict time of discharge, create buffers around buildings and certain linear features, and set a minimum lot size for discharge. The bylaw also includes several exemptions to the prohibitions, including protection of property, normal farming practices, recognized gun ranges/clubs, and peace officers.

The survey will be available until May 16, 2025.
Although the municipality has stated that there is no intention to target hunters or farmers in the proposed changes, the OFAH will be involved to ensure that there are no impacts on our outdoor heritage activities.
